Kuvelu Tetseo is part of the famous folk act from Nagaland – Tetseo Sisters. They have been enthralling people around the world with their traditional Li songs. Talented, humble and friendly, Kuvelu is also quite the style icon and has a blog called My Salad Days where she posts about fashion, the latest trends and more.
Do you remember the first song you sang?
I sang ‘Turn your eyes upon Jesus’ in the morning school assembly at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Kohima when I was in kindergarten. My sister Mercy taught me this gospel song.
How was your experience in Korea?
Korea was Incredible. The beautiful and courteous people, infrastructure, public transport, the folk music/art scene, kpop culture, the street food, shopping – clothes, fashion/style, beauty products – they were really admirable.
Do you think Northeast India needs more folk artistes?
Yes. We do. More support for artists and venues!
What is your favourite concert venue so far?
Edinburgh Royal Castle was my favourite venue. I was there performing daily for almost a month from August 1st to 24th August with Team Nagaland and my sister at the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2014. I performed about 36 times when I was there.

What is your favourite thing to eat?
Smoked pork dishes, chocolates and blueberry cheesecakes.
What is the most expensive thing you have ever bought?
My iPad and my MacBook- with my hard earned money.
Funniest thing that has happened to you while on tour?
Wellwishers coming and taking selfies with me thinking I’m Lulu or Azi.
