Speaking on the recent incidents of illegal coal trading and the rise coal mafia in Assam, Commissioner of Police Hiren Nath said that no coal syndicate exists in Guwahati. With complete assurance in his voice, Hiren Nath addressed media persons in Guwahati and informed that he was one the one who suggested moving the coal depot from Guwahati.
‘There is no coal syndicate in Guwahati. And I was the one who suggested at shifting the coal depot from Guwahati in 2016,’ the commissioner said. Questioning the people, who have raised their voice against the inability of police and the government in curbing the coal syndicate, Nath said where were these people when the suggestion was put forward for shifting the coal depot?
Adding to this, the commissioner informed that eight people in connection with the coal mafia has been arrested till now.
