Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a rally held at Kailshahar of Unakoti district in Tripura lashed out at the Left Front and the State’s increasing unemployment rate.
Criticizing the Manik Sarkar Government, Modi said: ‘Unemployed youths of Tripura are striving to be employed. But without focusing on these issues, Communist party calls press conferences at New Delhi and asks the reasons of unemployment from Modi. But before asking us, ask your own Government, why it’s unable to fill up the vacancies in various departments?’
Tripura goes to polls on February 18. The State has been ruled by by Manik Sarkar for 20 of the 30 years the CPM has been in power in the state. Known for his scrupulous honesty, Mr Sarkar was recently found to be the poorest Chief Minister of the country.
However, PM Modi said, ‘I experienced various elections earlier but Tripura’s election temperament is totally different this time. I can see the anger on the public’s face following 25 years of a corrupt regime led by the Communists. Thus, this election doesn’t look like any conventional election but the election is going to be government vs. public.’
Mentioning that Tripura has been paralyzed under the Communist government without any development, Modi asked the crowd to answer why the state was lagging behind.
