Commemorating the Golden Jubilee of formal diplomatic relations between Bhutan and India, the Bhutan Film Festival will be held at Gangtok on June 23rd and 24th, 2018. It was informed that a total of six popular Bhutanese films will be screened at the auditorium of Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department and Hotel Rendezvous in Gangtok.
State Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department secretary, Ambika Pradhan, expressed that this would help strengthen the bond between the two countries and furthermore boost tourism and business exchange between the two nations.
President of Film Association of Bhutan, Karma Ushering said that this would greatly promote and encourage the ties between the two nations and extended an invitation to all Gangtok residents to be a part of the festival.
The film screenings will be followed by panel discussions with film professionals, producers and directors. The film festival intends to bring together citizens of the two countries, strengthen the friendly relationship and showcase Bhutan’s efforts towards the preservation and promotion of distinctive culture, tradition and language.
The event is being organized by the Ministry of Information & Communications, Royal Government of Bhutan in collaboration with the Film Association of Bhutan with facilitation support from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Royal Government of Bhutan and the Cultural Affairs & Heritage Department Government of Sikkim
