Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS), Southern Regional Centre, Mysuru, is organising a celebration of North Eastern Cultural and Dance Festival at the Wellington House of Mysore on January 10 and 11. The festival will include performing arts presentation by tribal and folk artists from Assam and Manipur. The festival has been organized as a step to showcase the cultural diversity of Northeast India and an attempt to give a boost to cultural exchange amongst the people in the country.
‘Northeast India is a paradise unexplored and one of the best destinations for nature lovers, trekkers and wildlife enthusiasts,’ read a release from the centre.
Pung cholom, Thang-Ta, Thougal Jagoi, Dasavatar, Dhon DolokCholom, Kabui Dance, Basanth Ras will represent Manipuri dance tradition. To display Assamese culture, Dashavatara, Bihu, Pharkanti Dance Assam (Rabha Tribe), Hamzar Dance (Rabha Tribe), Bhortal Nritya, Borgeet, Bar-Dwi-Shikhl, Chathar Dance shall be performed.
Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya from time to time displays ethnic and cultural diversities of communities from the different parts of the nation. Also known as National Museum of Humankind or Museum of Man, this anthropology museum is located in Bhopal, India, and the southern regional centre is located in Mysore.
