Facility for obtaining visa for travelling to 40 countries may be opened at Imphal from August 5. Officials of VFS Global, and Chief Minister, N Biren Singh, held a meeting at the latter’s office and discussed about a visa facility at Imphal, and announced that the State will have a visa services centre, the first of its kind in the State and the region.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, Singh said, ‘The State will be launching a VFS (Visa Facilitation Services) centre on 5th August 2019 at the Citizen Facilitation Centre in Imphal.’ A Dubai-based company, VFS Global, is a multinational enterprise managing Visa Application Centers (VAC) and passport issuance-related administrative work. Manipur would be the first State in the Northeast to have a visa facility with access to 40 countries, according to reports. However, the list containing the name of countries has not yet been declared yet.
The visa facility would be attached to the Citizen Felicitation Centre opened at 2nd MR Gate. A MoU was signed between the State Government and VFS Global on September 8 of last year. Meanwhile, it is has been reported that ICP Moreh would start issuing visa on arrival ahead of this year’s Manipur Sangai Festival and Indians travelling to Myanmar from Manipur would be given visa at Tamu in Manipur.
