Merenla Imkong’s cafe Muffet’s Pantry is located in Duncan Bosti, Dimapur. It is quite quirky because unlike other fancy places, the feel here is extremely homely. ‘I just wanted to have a place where people can walk in and feel like they are sitting in their own pantry and feel at home,’ reveals Merenla.
It’s basically a no-fuss cafe where you can enjoy your food with friends and family. Merenla has always been fascinated with cooking and the first edible food she made was Aloo Chutney (pitika). ‘I do not have any formal training but the love of food made me experiment and share the passion with people hence the café. I try to serve quality food; in fact the pork I use is sourced directly from my father’s piggery farm.’
She has her share of challenges which includes unavailability of ingredients but fortunately it does not reflect on the menu. It has everything from Korean flavoured noodle soup, Chicken Wings, Pork Ribs, Mac and Cheese, Burgers, Sticky Rice with Spicy Meat Pickles, Fried Rice with Beef/ Pork curry, Spaghetti (Asian Flavours and Classic Meatball) to Cheesecakes.
‘I would definitely recommend the Sticky Ribster, The Beef Burgers, Glazed Chicken Wings, Spaghetti and Cheesecake,’ shares Merenla.
