A business woman in Dimapur was shot dead by unidentified miscreants. The victim has been identified as Ritika Mehta, the owner of Apna Hotel in the heart of the town.
According to an eye-witness, ‘The shooting took place around 6.30 pm, when two armed miscreants fired at Ritika, while she was at the hotel counter attending to some customers’. He further informed that even though the personal bodyguard of the victim and a visitor chased the two killers, they managed to escape towards New Market under the cover of darkness.
‘Ritika was rushed to Nikos Hospital but was later shifted to Zion hospital. However, by the time the victim was brought to Zion, she succumbed to fatal injuries on her neck,’ he further pointed out. It is to be noted that Monday’s incident was the second attempt on Ritika, as on 13 November 2015, a lone armed miscreant attempted to kill her.
Meanwhile, a senior police official of Dimapur informed that a bullet head of a .32 calibre was recovered from the spot. ‘Police have also collected crucial evidence from the scene,’ he added.
