Did you know that the transgender community in our country is recognized as the third gender? Even with official recognition, our society has failed to acknowledge that fact. What we should do instead of shunning them, is to make them feel comfortable in our midst. Bearing this in mind, Sana Ebemma, an NGO based in Imphal has conceptualized a campaign to sensitize the masses.
This three-month long campaign is aimed at promoting the rights of the transgender community. To kick start the campaign, Sana Ebemma has organized a mega fashion event titled Sana gi Likphang on December 23. It is set to be held at Hotel Imphal. Throughout the duration of the campaign, there will be a host of events like pride walk, panel discussions, consultation and workshops etc.
The fashion event itself will showcase the indigenous essence of this unique community. The name of the event Sana gi Likphang means giving new life to erstwhile indigenous things by erasing the outdated attitude of looking at things.
