Nagaland CM TR Zeliang has been summoned to appear before the Court of the Judicial Magistrate, First Class, Kohima on 7th January 2016, for ‘false declaration of facts’ while submitting his nomination for the 2013 State Assembly Elections.
As per records examined by the Magistrate, it was revealed that TR Zeliang had appeared for his BA exam in the year 1979, but consequently failed in all subjects. However, in 1980, there is no record showing TR Zeliang re-appearing for his BA examination under NEHU. Despite that, his nomination form mentions that he had successfully passed the BA exam.
The records further stated that the Chief Minister was enrolled as a student of NEHU in the year 1975-76, bearing registration no A0004 and signed by him on the record register on 4.9.1975. Post examination of records, the court has declared that ‘it is a fit case to proceed further. The complainant, Maziezokho Nisa was represented by Senior Advocate, KN Bal Gopal and the respondent was represented by advocate Joshua Sheqhi.
