Vivanta by Taj opened its doors to the public today amidst much fanfare. A Bihu trope with drums and cymbals welcomed the guests at the entrance of the hotel. CM Tarun Gogoi was present on the occasion along with other dignitaries like Ranjit Barthakur, Cyrus Mistry Chairman of TATA Group, Rakesh Sarna CEO and MD of Taj Hotels and others.
Host Tinat Atifa Masood welcomed the guests to the banquet hall of the Vivanta for the opening ceremony. Sattriya dancer Dr Meneka PP Bora enthralled the audience with her performance. Originally performed by male monks, Sattriya dance has undergone a lot of change over the years. Up next was a performance by Sunita Khound Bhuyan who promotes art globally.
MD Rakesh Sarna spoke about how Vivanta Guwahati is the newest member to join the Taj family. TATA Group believes in contributing to the society. Cyrus Mistry thanked the local community for embracing them so warmly. Tarun Gogoi said, ‘It is a happy occasion for Assam. This will expose the potential of Assam tourism to the whole world’. Ranjit Borthakur ended the program with a vote of thanks to those unknown and unsung heroes who have helped to accomplish this massive project.
