Hearing the Congress party’s appeal against the imposition of President’s rule in Arunachal Pradesh, the Supreme Court on Wednesday gave State Governor JP Rajkhowa 15 minutes time to furnish a report which he had submitted to the Centre citing a ‘constitutional breakdown.’
‘You have submitted a report indicating an emergency situation as to why President’s Rule needs to be imposed. So please produce the report,’ said the apex court to the Governor’s counsel. Moreover, the apex court has sought the Attorney General’s assistance on imposition of President’s rule in Arunachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, reacting on the issue, former Chief Minister of the State, Nabam Tuki stated, ‘I will fight legally and I believe that the Supreme Court will do justice to the people of Arunachal Pradesh.’ He further claimed that the Arunachal Pradesh unit of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) wanted to destabilize the State.
