Dejavu serves Chinese cuisine and also has a separate lounge area where you can wine and dine. Located in Laitumkhrah, the restaurant is easy to find as it right next to the taxi stand.
It has made a name for itself since its establishment and has been known to serve the best Chinese food in town. The ambience is relaxing and the decor is absolutely stunning with attention to detail. They recently introduced the buffet menu which is why I decided to go and give it a try one afternoon.
The Buffet Menu
The lunch buffet cost Rs 350 per person (exclusive of service tax). Lunch began with Lung Fung Chicken Soup. Served in generous amount, the soup was tasty but was a little on the spicy side due to the addition of green chillies. Main course included Vegetable Fried Rice, Vegetable Chowmein, Chicken Manchurian, Fish Curry, Chilly Chicken Dry and Fried Potato Fingers. Although all the items were cooked well and really delicious, I would specially recommend the Fish Curry and Fried Potato Fingers. And after a good meal, who can say no to desserts. They served Chocolate Mousse which was rich and very chocolaty. It would surely bring all chocolate lovers to tears of happiness. However, there are a few who do not prefer chocolate so having other options would probably be a good idea for the restaurant in the long run.
Overall the meal was tasty and affordable. I felt it was money wisely spent for such a buffet. Another word of advice – don’t miss out on the salads and chutneys that are provided at every table, they are really delicious. So next time in Shillong, you have a hankering for good Chinese food, Deja-Vu is the place for you.
