You only get to say ‘I do’ once and it is imperative that your big day is everything you dreamed and more. But planning a wedding is a mammoth task and so it is important to prioritize – either enjoy the most important day of your life or turn into ‘bridezilla/groomzilla’. With weddings getting bigger, and crazier, it always helps to bring in the experts to save yourself some headaches. Of late, there has been a rise of wedding planners in the region to meet the growing needs of the society but there are some that stand out because of their ingenuity. ADL Weddings, a wedding planning and event services business based in Dimapur is one such example.
ADL Weddings is run by Asangla Imchen, Dina Yepthomi and Loye Tungoe. ‘The three of us have been friends since school days and we always had this dream that we’ll start a business together one day. Our fascination with décors, flowers and the desire to do something we love, ultimately led us to start our dream venture – ADL Weddings.’ reveals Asangla. The business has grown by leaps and bounds from the time they started out in the year 2009. They offer everything and anything to do with weddings – from planning, choosing the right location, catering, design and décor.
But the rise to success has not been without hurdles on the way, ‘As any new business starting from scratch, we had several challenges. Since none of us were professionally trained in this field, we faced problems in time management, finding skilled workers etc. Besides all these numerous hurdles, materials for décor had to be sourced from outside costing us extra time and budget, which was also another challenge.’ One great quality about ADL Weddings is their willingness to be inventive and creative, as nowadays people are choosing grand over basic when it comes to weddings. ‘People are splurging on weddings and it’s just getting bigger and bigger every year. Now, every couple wants something new for their special day. They are now more open to new ideas and ready to embrace never before tried concepts.’
ADL Weddings has its store-cum-office in Dimapur, Nagaland.
Budget wedding tips from ADL Weddings
- Have the wedding ceremony and reception at the same location, it saves time and budget.
- Use seasonal flowers for the decors and serve locally available food.
- If you have friends, families who can do your make-up, wedding photography and the like, ask them to help out instead of using professional services.
- Skip wedding favours. The money saved on favours can be spent somewhere more important.
