Karbi Anglong is fairly unknown to the people of mainland India. It is a little slice of heaven tucked away neatly in a secluded part of Northeast India. Langsun Falls, a largely undiscovered waterfall is located in Belurghat, Karbi Anglong. The distance from Guwahati to Langsun Falls is approximately 200 kms by road. It takes around 4 hours to reach there. Although this place has no electricity, no good roads and more importantly no mobile network, the serene beauty of the place sets your weary soul at rest. It is a great place to go backpacking with friends.
Reaching the fall is a bit tricky though as you have to drive through a muddy patch. Once you cross the watch point, you have to go on foot to complete your journey. There is a small waterway which is littered with slippery stones which you have to be cautious about when you cross it. After you go up a small steep hill which is on the way to the Langsun Falls, it is just a five minute walk to reach your destination. The fall is 20ft and by its side is a small stream.
The Langsun Waterfall
The waterfall is majestic in its beauty. Also there is a shiva temple on a nearby hill side which can be reached through a bamboo bridge. This place hasn’t seen many tourists and so the children from the village are kind of afraid to interact with strangers or click pictures with them. Rain and wind flow is high in the area. The area near the falls also has a population of wild animals but the landscape is very beautiful. There is no accommodation as such, you have to return the same day. Also, you have to carry your own food and you can stay there if you know someone from the area. When you see the beauty of the place, the slightly difficult journey is totally worth it.
