A classical dance extravaganza, Pragjyoti International Dance Festival aims to exhibit the rich heritage of Assam. The event is hosted by Kalpa, A Society for Promotion of Literature, Art, Culture and Social Harmony. A five-day festival, it will take place at different venues namely Shraddhanjali Kanan (February 13-14), Tezpur University (February 15-16), and IIT Guwahati (February 17). National Award winner and Yuva Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, Dr Anwesa Mahanta is the festival director of this event.
A slew of international artists like Silvia Vona (Italy) for Odissi, Artur Przybylski (Poland) for Kathak, Murugashankari Prabhu Leo (Chennai) for Bharatnatyam, Purona Kamalabari Sattra (Titabor) for Sattriya Gayan Bayan, Tarali Das and group (Guwahati) for Sattriya, Tatini Das and Group (Guwahati) for Bharatanatyam, Natun Samuguri Sattra (Majuli) for Mukha Bhaona – Sattriya, Artistes from Sipajhar for Dhepadhuliya, Disciples of Lt. Lalit Chandra Nath Oja for Ojapali , Dr. Partibha Sarma and Group for Sattriya (Tezpur) and Jasodhara Bora (Tezpur) for Bharatanatyam will grace the event. On the concluding day of the festival, an interaction with the performing arts students of IIT Guwahati will follow the performances.
