Most of us love all things Korean, be it films, pop music, fashion or food. While there are many Korean restaurants in metro cities but in the Northeast, it is hard to find any place where you can sample Korean cuisine. However, all that is about to change, Shillong recently saw the opening of a new restaurant where you can indulge your Korean food craving. Located near St Edmunds College, Laitumkhrah, the restaurant is called Kitchen of Korea.
This first ever Korean restaurant has tried to give the customers an authentic Korean feel, be it in their ambience or the food. They have two types of dining options, you can choose to sit at the table, or you can take your shoes off and sit on cushions placed on the floor and eat from a low table in the traditional Korean style. The owner of the place is Wabang Chungtia, who is a self-confessed food enthusiast.
Some of the items that are hot on their menu right now are Kimchi stew with rice, Kimbap, Samgyeopsal (pork belly), Japchae Noodles (also called glass noodles), and Korean Ginseng Tea. So the next time you have a craving for Korean cuisine, you know where to go!
