Noted English anthropologist Verrier Elwin’s collection of black and white photos are on display in Delhi. This exhibition is being hosted by the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage with Adivasi Arts Trust and Ambedkar University Delhi and hosted at INTACH headquarters.
These rare photographs of Northeastern tribes were taken between 1930’s-60’s, during his study of tribes in Central and Northeastern India. The monochrome images consist of the tribes of Arunachal like Monpas and Wanchos, as well as tribes of Manipur and Nagaland. Elwin was a recipient of Padma Bhusan award for his contribution to tribal welfare.
