In a tragic incident on Earth Day, a massive landslide has been reported from Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh. According to initial reports, 18 labourers have been buried alive and many are feared dead. Several people are still feared trapped. 13 of the deceased ones are from neighbouring Assam.
An NDRF team has left for the spot in Tawang, where several are feared buried under debris after a landslide. Rescue operations are under way. More rain-triggered landslides are also being reported from different part of the State and the entire Northeast region damaging electric poles and disrupting power supply. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Kalikho Pul has asked Tawang deputy commissioner for a detailed report on the landslide.
