19-year-old Dhruba Jyoti Kakati hails from Morisuti, Pathalipahar, which is 45 kms away from North Lakhimpur, Assam. He completed his higher secondary from North Lakhimpur College and is now a student of Biswanath College of Agriculture. What sets him apart from others of his age is that he has a knack for innovations.
From childhood, he found inspiration in the thoughts and works of great scientific minds like Thomas Edison, APJ Abdul Kalam and Assam’s very own innovator Uddhab Bharali. Till date, he has already made five useful innovations. In fact, one of his innovations also featured on Teenovation, a program aired on Zee Q.
Match Incense Sticks
He is the man behind ‘Match Incense Sticks’, a type of incense stick that you can use without any external source of fire. The ‘Multipurpose Crutch’ he developed using two simple crutches has multipurpose uses. It is extremely helpful for differently-abled people as it can be transformed into a table/chair.
Umbrella Helper Box
Aside from that, he has also developed the ‘Umbrella Helper Box’ which is a removable box that can be connected to an umbrella. It uses solar energy to charge cell phones. In addition to that, it also has a torch light which can be very helpful during rainy nights.
