Tell us more about the latest Assamese film you are working on. What about the role captured your interest?
The Assamese film I’m part of is called ‘Xoixobote Dhemalite’ (Rainbow Fields) produced by India Stories ( Mumbai based production house ) and directed by Bidyut Kotoky. Without revealing much as I’m bound by contract, the simplicity of the role is what piqued my interest. It’s a part that no one probably would imagine me playing. I also like the premise of the story very much, which has a backdrop of the insurgency. It’s an all heart story.
Which according to you is more challenging – acting or modelling?
Both has its own challenges which cannot be compared to the other. For me, both has been equally important in shaping who I am today. I have taken both these careers very seriously. It hasn’t been a cake walk in either field. The only difference is modelling fell into place much faster where as making my place as an actor has been a slower but steadier journey.
What are your thoughts on the Northeast film scenario?
I think the biggest problem the NE film productions are facing is the funding. We have great content and amazing talent in our cinema but if people need to make a living out of it (which I’m sure a lot of them want to) then we need to work on sources of funding. But it’s extremely heartening to see the hard work and the kind of dedication that the NE film industry shows despite all shortcomings. I have great hope that these will be overcome soon.
Any advice for aspiring youth who want to pursue modelling or acting professionally?
No amount of advise will live up to one’s own understanding. The youth have to go through their own struggles and figure their own path out. As long as they have their head on their shoulders, positive approach and ‘never say die’ attitude , they will shine through in any field.
