20-year-old Priyadarshini Chatterjee is a former student of Maria’s Public School, Guwahati. From a tender age, she was passionate about modelling. A brilliant student in school, her teachers suggested her to pursue medical entrance exam but she surprised everyone by choosing to follow her passion. After passing her Higher Secondary exams, she got admission in Hindu College. She auditioned and got selected for Miss Delhi and then went on to win the competition and subsequently win the FBB Femina Miss India World 2016 title.
How has winning the Miss India crown changed your life?
Priyadarshini: Winning the crown has not only changed my life but the lives of people around me. Especially my parents and close friends. I was just a college going girl but now I will be representing my country at an international level, I do have a lot of responsibilities and I hope to keep up with them.
What was the most challenging part of participating in Miss India and what was the most enjoyable part besides taking home the crown?
Priyadarshini: The most challenging part was to maintain the emotional balance throughout the pageant because it does get hectic and we all feel the pressure somehow or the other. But where is the fun without overcoming hard circumstances? Getting the opportunity to meet SRK is something I will cherish forever.
What is the best piece of advice that you have been given?
Priyadarshini: When you take a step, don’t look back. Work hard, believe in yourself and you’ll shine.
What is your biggest strength and your biggest weakness?
Priyadarshini: My biggest strength would be that I am a very optimistic person and I tend to have a positive outlook towards anything and everything. I am yet to discover my weakness as such.
Any advice for youth in the Northeast who look up to you?
Priyadarshini: Live your dreams, believe in yourself and be true to yourself. Just that, and nothing will stop you from achieving what you want to in life.

Priyadarshini: Simple, optimistic and a learner
