People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) claimed responsibility for the murder of former chairman of its faction and his aide on last Tuesday night.
Ningombam Nabachandra alias Nongdrenkhomba (57) and his aide Leishangthem Sanjit alias Chingkhei (41) were found murdered at their lodging place inside the complex of the 7th Manipur Rifles in Imphal’s Khabeisoi where they had taken shelter after surrendering to the government around two year ago.
A statement of the PREPAK issued to the local media today said that the former chairman of PREPAK (VC) and his aide were shot dead by cadres of its Red Army by intruding into the 7th MR campus. The cadres assassinated him implementing a standing order of the outfit’s high command who considered his surrender to have great impact on the revolutionary struggle of people of Manipur.
Besides tarnishing the image of the revolutionary struggle, he was a deserter who decamped with a large amount of party’s hard earned fund, the statement alleged.
His aide Sanjit has to be killed under an inevitable condition for assisting the former leader in indulging anti-party and anti-revolutionary activities in collusion with enemies, the PREPAK statement signed by its publicity officer Captain Achouba said.
The statement alleged Nabachandra of indulging in extortion activities with his followers who surrendered to the ‘enemy’.
