Controversial Chairperson of Assam Public Service Commission Rakesh Paul, who is accused of having involved in massive corruption while recruiting candidates for various posts, has stated that he and his team were working on war footing to reform the ‘system’ to transform it into a transparent and clean one.
Talking to this correspondent, Rakesh Paul said, ‘We are going to declare the results of Prelims exam of 2015 and Mains exam of 2014 within a very short period. In fact all other pending exams and results will be completed very soon. Our staff is working very hard for it. I want to convince the people of Assam that we will transform APSC into such a transparent organisation where people can trust it. I need blessings of people’.
Notably, Rakesh Paul has recently got into a controversy after he said that he could not declare the result of Viva exam of APSC within three hours as instructed by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. The later then again warned the APSC chairman to work as per the instructions given to him.
However against speculations of a possible conflict between Sarbananda Sonowal and Rakesh Paul, Paul said, ‘I do not have any conflict with Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. There were some misunderstanding and misinterpretation of my previous press meet. I have never challenged the Chief Minister. We will always abide by his suggestions. I have discussed about his suggestions in the commissioner level. Yesterday we did videography of the Viva exam as per his suggestions’.
Allegations of corruption and holding of disproportionate sources of income have been levelled against Rakesh Paul, after the Guwahati High Court Directed the CBI to conduct a preliminary inquiry against him on October last year.
