Brace yourselves Airtel customers, soon you will be able to avail 4G services. Bharti Airtel, India’s largest telecommunications service provider has stated it will launch 4G services in Assam soon. The company is allowing customers to switch their existing 2G/3G SIMs with 4G USIMs free of cost at any Airtel retail store.
The telco said that that it plans to launch 4G services in Assam soon and is allowing a SIM upgrade so that the customers can experience 4G since the very day of the launch. The move could be seen as a desperate attempt by the telecom operator to keep its potential 4G takers intact.
Earlier in the month of August, Airtel had completed its 4G spectrum sharing deal with Aircel for eight telecom circles, one of them being Assam. The 4G SIMs are available at any Airtel retail store in 37 towns in Assam including Guwahati, Silchar, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, Tinsukia, Bongaigaon, Sibsagar, Nagaon, Lakhimpur, Barpeta, Duliajan, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Dhemaji, Golaghat, Gaolpara, Mangaldoi and Nalbari.
“We are inviting data savvy customers to be 4G ready with a simple switch to an Airtel USIM. We look forward to serving them with world-class services on India’s widest 4G network,” Airtel Chief Executive Officer (North East and Assam) Sameer Anjaria said.
The launch of Airtel 4G in Assam will be a part of Project Leap for which the company will invest a sum of Rs 60000 crores over the next three years.
