Guwahati will soon have three short-term courses by the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) from October 13. The three courses will be on Cinematography, Screenplay and Acting. Each will accommodate 20 students and will last 20 days. This will be a foundation course taught by the alumni of FTII along with subject experts.
This initiative is carried out in collaboration with the Assam Government. The students will be charged Rs 25000. Students who have passed class 12 are eligible to apply for the courses. This is the first time the institute is starting such programmes outside FTII.
They also have plans to open a placement cell for students in the campus from next year. Accommodation on discount will also be made available by the government for outstation students. Infrastructure will be provided by the State to hold classes.
