Tell us a little about your role in the film?
Well, at this moment, I can’t reveal much about the character. But yes, I will be playing one of the lead roles in the movie and will be working with some established names from Mumbai and the Assamese film industry.
How did you prepare for the role? Did you take acting lessons or get training of any kind?
To be honest, I didn’t take any acting lessons or get training of any kind. I believe it came genetically as my mother always wanted to be an actress but couldn’t for certain reasons. So here I am, with all the passion, living her dream.
I did attend a few workshops to do justice to my character. By working with all the NSD National School of Drama) actors, I learnt a lot of things. It was a completely different experience and approach. The work was difficult yet exciting.
Are you excited or nervous about this new path in your life?
I am definitely excited about this new journey, which is a dream come true. Let’s be honest, I am an outsider and don’t have anyone in the industry (Northeast or Mumbai). I am just following my dreams and working hard to achieve my goals. I am also trying to break the stereotype that a person with Northeastern/Mongoloid features cannot achieve much in the mainstream film industry. But this is just the beginning, the real struggle starts after this.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I am a nameless wanderer. Whenever I get free time, I just hop on my bullet and go for rides to new places, meet new people, learn about their culture etc. That helps me grow and make me an interesting person (as I have a lot of stories about journeys). Apart from that, I am a trained Mixed Martial Artist so I spend most of my time boxing, kickboxing, wrestling etc. And of course, being a Northeasterner, music is in my blood so I play the guitar and like to sing old school songs.
Any one personality that you look up to?
To be honest there are two. Shah Rukh Khan is an example of rags to riches story. Achieving things on his own and being named King Khan. Now that’s really something, apart from being a great human being. Also, Sylvester Stallone (Rocky Balboa) because he inspires people to never give up on their dreams.
