The 7th edition of the CMS Vatavaran Environment and Wildlife International Film Festival and Forum is underway in Guwahati. The theme of the festival is ‘water for life’. The fest is called Brahmaputra River International Festival.
What You Can Look Forward To
A host of activities has been lined up at the fest. Green filmmaking and editing workshop, media roundtable, cleaning drive, walk with river, competitions like slogan writing, photography, poster-making, calligram, word cloud, sketching and painting, music and dance will be part of the event.
The festival, spread across 9 venues, opened at Rabindra Bhawan. A host of Assamese film screenings will be organized at Rabindra Bhawan, Bharalu riverbank, Deepor Beel, State Art Gallery etc. A total of 45 films are scheduled to be screened at the festival.
The Aim of the Festival
This fest aims to enhance understanding, appreciation and shift in attitudes towards the natural world and at increasing space for environmental issues in mass media and evolving a nationwide environment outreach framework.
It will reach out to people from all walks of life including filmmakers, civil society groups, government organizations, environmentalists, researchers, conservationists, policy makers, activists, public and private sector organizations and students.
