She is an Assamese actress born in Sonapur, Assam. A past student of the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, she has acted in various plays, short films, television series. She debuted with the acclaimed Tamil thriller Vazhakku Enn 18/9 in the year 2012. Apart from that she has also acted in Hindi, Assamese, Bengali and Malayalam films. How was the whole Akira experience?
I just landed the film through the audition and then they called me for the look testing. Then Murugadoss sir, my director selected me for the part of —- character. I shot the film in Bombay and I got a chance to work with Sonakshi Sinha, Konkona Sen Sarma . It was a good experience for me working with those stars. As an actor, both of them are supportive and very down-to-earth. Actually Murugadoss sir knew I worked in Tamil films, saw it and remembered. He saw my work and was appreciative of that and it was a brilliant experience.
Do you think Bollywood needs more female-protagonist centric stories?
I never thought about it as such but time has changed now and people are coming up with more such films. Bollywood is coming with more female-oriented films. Sonakshi is an actor who is doing that kind of films. As an actor and a female I would love to have more and more such roles.
How do you decide on roles?
Actually I always go with character first but I would like to know more about the script before signing any films. I would love to have an understanding of the character. Even if it is a small part, it doesn’t matter if the character holds a significance in the film. But I always love to work with good directors in the sense that even if he/she is newcomer, they have good stories to tell.
Apart from acting, what do you love doing?
Apart from acting, I love dancing, reading books, listening to music, watching films and roaming around.
