Assam boy Parikshit Somani entered into the quarterfinals of the Asian Tennis Tour (ATT) along with other seeded players. The main draw of the ATT meet took place at the All Assam Tennis Association’s own complex at Chachal, Guwahati.
The 16-year-old showed class and temperament while making it into the quarter-finals. A good show in the Asian Tennis Tour can leave a huge impact in his current rankings. Earlier he had held top positions while playing as Under-12, 14 and 16. He was also number 3 in Under-18 rankings.
On the opening day of the main draw, Parikshit Somani defeated Minkhi Talom of Arunachal Pradesh in straight sets 6-1, 7-5. However, another player from Assam, Ansu Bhuyan went down to Ishaque Eqbal 6-2, 6-4.
Now, Parikshit will play against Niki Kaliyanda in the quarterfinal, Niki defeated Bhavesh Gour 6-3, 6-4 in his previous match.
