Graphic novelist Amruta Patil’s book Sauptik – Blood and Flowers, would be launched in Sikkim at the Rachna Books in Gangtok. The book is a kind of retelling of some of the oldest tales, which has inspired generations. This book is a sequel to the 2012’s Adi Parva, which was chosen as the Best Graphic Novel by comic book historian, Paul Gravett.
This book contains breathtaking art with classic storytelling. Based on Mahabharata, the Purana and the tradition of oral storytellers, Sauptik is also contemporary. The narrative with its lush visuals, emphasizes on our forgotten connection with the soil, river, forest, fire. The launch is on 12 November, at 5 in the evening and entry is free.
