After three consecutive home defeats NEUFC would be looking for full points to stay alive in the League against FC Pune City.
With Emiliano and Velez back to the squad, this could be a promising beginning after three consecutive home defeats. The team will be hoping for a win to make up to the home crowd who were left disappointed in the last three games.
The presence of fast and agile players like Seityasen Singh and Holicharan Narzary can help the forward trio of Emiliano-Katsumi-Velez to ensure that they can secure three points in the penultimate home game of Northeast United FC.
The team will aim to turn things around in the defence section as the defense in the last few games was looking out of the zone. NorthEast United are currently in the seventh position with 11 points from 10 matches, the same as bottom-placed FC Goa who have played an additional match. However, the teams are so close to each other that a win will take them close to qualification.
They recently won against the Delhi Dynamos FC and they appear positive about their approach. Pune is currently in the fourth position with 15 points and an away win can be huge boost for them to secure a place in the semi finals.
FC Pune City coach Habas said ‘We are only thinking about NEUFC right now. We have a lot of travelling on our schedule and, we will have to focus on recovering. We aren’t thinking about the semi-finals, so we will focus on NEUFC and prepare accordingly.’
Brazilian midfielder Jonatan Lucca is looking good and could be a threat for NEUFC by scoring well and assisting their striker with his accurate passing.
