In what can be termed as a monumental achievement, Assam girl Arpana Choudhury got featured in Forbes India’s prestigious 30 Under 30 list. Arpana’s peers include the likes of Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu, designer Masaba Gupta etc.
Arpana, a Mass Communication graduate from Tezpur University, is the Junior Program Associate of Nazdeek. Nazdeek, meaning “to be close” in Urdu, is a legal capacity building organization committed to bringing access to justice closer to marginalized communities in India. Nazdeek partners with grassroots activists and lawyers to build community-based legal networks to increase accountability in the protection of social and economic rights. Leveraging the power of local and transnational networking, they work with communities in developing tools to demand and secure justice.
Arpana through her association with Nazdeek, has trained 18 paralegals to assess and report violations of the rights of the adivasis under the National Health Mission.
