Mystery shrouds the sensational kidnapping of Bhaskar Pathak, manager of the Charaideo Tea estate who was abducted from Rajapara of Boko in Kamrup on Friday evening. Pathak, a native of Dakuapara in Boko, was picked up by a group of 10 to 12 masked gunmen when he was arriving back home with his wife.
Hours after the incident, the miscreant over telephone threatened Pathak’s family of killing the victim if the matter was reported to the police.
Interestingly, according to latest reports, Bhaskar Pathak had left the teat estate after siphoning of money meant for the wages of the tea garden labourers. A case was also registered in this connection at the Matharpur police station on January 23, 2017. It is to be seen now whether his abduction has anything to do with the above mentioned incident.
Family members of the victim disclosed that the abductors sought a ransom of Rs 30 lakh before February 9 for the release of Pathak. The police have begun investigations into the matter.
