Travellers are familiar with the UNESCO-heritage Darjeeling toy train, but in May, travellers will get to experience something very unique. A ‘fun run’ will be organized on May 7 where toy train enthusiasts and heritage promoters will run alongside the famous toy train from Ghoom station to Darjeeling station covering a distance of 8 km.
Participants can choose to wear their traditional attire or dress up in costumes of their favourite cartoon or comic characters. The main idea behind the festival is not only to attract more tourists but also encourage people to contribute towards the conservation of the heritage toy train.
In fact, two officials from Limca Record Books will be in Darjeeling to measure the record-breaking feat.
