The best thing about Mandarmani is that it’s like having your own private beach. You can sunbathe, go swimming or walk the beach without needing to manoeuvre around throngs of people. There is very little to see or do apart from the beach which is great if you are looking to unwind for a couple of days. Start your day with a refreshing swim, take a nap, collect seashells, try your skills at beach volleyball, make sand-castles or just laze around and do nothing.
How to Get There
Fly to Kolkata, from there take a bus to Mandarmani. Volvo buses make regular trips from Esplanade, tickets costs around Rs 300-500. The ride is about 3 hours and the bus stops at Cholkhola, from there, you can take a cab for Rs 200 to get to the beach
Things to Do
Take a beach ball along to enjoy a game or two with your friends/family.
Where to Stay
You can stay at the Eco Villa Resort, it has cottages right on the beach. It can cost around Rs 1000-1500 per night for a standard room.
Places to Shop/Eat
Visit the small shops along the beach to buy knick-knacks made out of shells. The food at Eco Villa Resort is worth trying, do make a point to order crab and prawn items when you are there.
Make a Memory
There is a river delta at the end of the beach, which has some fishing settlements nearby. The place is quite scenic, a great place to take pictures or watch the fishermen get their catch of the day.
