Regarding the NGO, Dr Saikia says, ‘Till today more than 50 kids registered their name with our NGO. About 1000 such kids are there in our area(Biswanath district). Most of them belong from poor families. For their development we are taking four steps. Our first step is to look their nutrition. Then we try to improve their physical abnormality and mental state through regular yoga and meditation. Thirdly, we try to give education through different process and lastly we try to give them vocational training so that they can stand on their own feet. In our journey we got some fruitful result.’
He further says, ‘Kids who come from distant places stay in the hostel. Rest of the kids from nearby places attends during day time. But we are in search of government land. We applied to local authority( land advisory board) one year back. But till now we have got no response. But we are hopeful. In this regard we have sent a letter to Prime Minister of India about three month back but didn’t any response. We are going to establish a Cerebral palsy centre for differently abled kids in Biswanath chariali(Dist. Biswanath) if we get government land. And it will be one and only such centre in north bank of Brahamaputra. Now our major fund is coming from K P Memorial hospital and little from donation of kind hearted persons.’
The centre which was started in March 18, 2014 has more than hundred kids staying there today.
