Rural Futures will be the main point of discussion in the 4th edition of the upcoming Eastern Himalayas Naturenomics™ Forum which will be held in Guwahati on 2nd and 3rd November, 2017. The multi-disciplinary forum has welcomed over 2000 guests from 13 different countries through the years.

Speaking on the main motto of the event, Saurav Malhotra, Project Executive, Balipara Foundation said, ‘Since inception, Balipara Foundation has challenged and questioned the narratives that drive conservation efforts the world over. This has allowed us to develop & implement socially participative conservation programmes and propose the concept of Rural Futures or RuFu as we like to call it. RuFu is a holistic plan encompassing all human needs and one, which allows wildlife to thrive alongside.’
Elaborating on Rural Futures, he said, ‘ Rural Futures is a project currently going on near Khalingduar Reserve Forest in Udalguri. It is a community based conservation project. People have understood why elephants come into conflict with people. We are presently focusing on 12 villages in the area.’
