Ex-minister Takar Marde was recently arrested in Guwahati by Dispur police. He had allegedly misbehaved with traffic police personnel and was unwilling to follow parking norms.
He had taken charge as the Home Minister of Arunachal Pradesh in the year 2011 when the late Jarbom Gamlin took over as Chief Minister after the tragic death of Dorjee Khandu in a chopper crash.
According to various sources, the former Congress minister had parked his vehicle at a no-parking zone. Because of this, a traffic constable who was on duty had to approach his car and tell him about moving the car. This angered Takar Marde and he picked a fight with the constable. Many commuters witnessed the confrontation. Some sources even state that he had physically pushed the traffic cop and used foul language.
The police registered a case (3313/17) with the Dispur police station under Sections 353/294/506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Except Section 353, which relates to assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty, the other two Sections are bailable offences. The accused has been forwarded to judicial custody.
