Assam governor Jagdish Mukhi will inaugurate the three-day 6th International Tourism Mart at Vivanta by Taj in Guwahati today evening.
The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, in association with the North Eastern States is organizing this Mart from 5-7 December, 2017.
Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Union Minister of State KJ Alphons will also be present at the inaugural session. Reports said 68 delegates from 30 countries will participate in the mart.
The event is being organised in the Northeastern region with the objective of highlighting the tourism potential of the region in the domestic and international markets.
Keeping the objectives of the Act East Policy in mind, discussions will focus on promoting cultural ties, people-to-people contact with countries in the Asean region and providing enhances connectivity with other neighbouring countries.
The mart brings together the tourism business fraternity and entrepreneurs from all the eight states and has been planned to facilitate interaction among buyers, sellers, media agencies and other stake holders.
The International Tourism Marts are organised in the Northeastern States on rotation basis. The earlier editions of this mart have been held in Guwahati, Tawang, Shillong, Gangtok and Imphal.
