A workshop on women’s financial literacy called ‘Investment Mantra’, was organised by Headway Intel Club in association with FICCI FLO–North East, at Hotel Palacio in Guwahati on Friday. It was conducted by well-known consultant, Bishnu Dhanuka of Millennium Mams’, Kolkata.
Dhanuka who has been conducting workshops for women across India since 1994 was in Guwahati for the first time. Explaining about the various investment options available, he tried to break the myth that investing in shares is risky and that stock markets are a place to lose money. He stressed on following the investment mantra of Warren Buffet by picking the right companies and staying invested long, one can never lose money.
Speaking on the occasion, he stressed on the importance of saving and investing wisely. He gave valuable insights to the participants on basics of finance, asset building and entrepreneurship. He also offered guidance on investments in mutual funds and shares, and advised exercising caution when taking decisions, to avoid falling in the trap of dubious schemes.
The workshop saw many businesswomen, academicians, theatre and media personalities, and people from other walks of life. There were about 75 participants.
The program was moderated by Dr Srutimala Duara and other keynote speakers were Neetu Sarawgi from Headway and Prabadita Bharti and Sarita Sikaria from FLO. A small play was enacted by members of AWAAZ, a drama group from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Guwahati.
