A chaotic situation occurred in Dhula, Mongoldoi after the death of an accused in police custody. From the morning, thousands of protesters circled the Dhula police station and pelting stones in the police station.

Police at first lathi charged on the protesters to control. Later, when police failed to control the huge protesters’ group, they opened gun-fire on the protestors. Protesters blocked the road up to 1 KM and also attacked and damage the media vehicles. Police escaped and run away from the incident area to save their lives from the attack of the protesters.
During gun-fire by police, one protester named Mahidul Islam died and other three protesters including a minor girl got serious injuries.
As the report, an accused Hasan Ali was arrested by police from Aatakata on Tuesday. Police tortured him by pouring cold water on his body, after which his health condition deteriorated. He was admitted to the GMCH on Wednesday morning but doctors declared him dead after the examination.
Locals protested immediately after his death and demanded immediate suspension of OC Ranjit Hazarika of Dhula Police station. To control the situation, District Administration has declared curfew in Dhula.
