North Eastern Regional Agricultural Marketing Corporation Ltd (NERAMAC) organized a two day celebrations ofBhogaliBihu, a festival celebrated in the month of January to mark the end of harvesting season, with great pomp and splendourat DilliHaat, New Delhi on 13th and 14th January, 2018. Shri Pankaj Kr Prasad,Managing Director, NERAMAC facilitated Dr. A.K.Yadav, Advisor APEDA, Govt of India on the first of the event.
Keeping in mind the lines in which BhogaliBihu is celebrated, audience got an opportunity to enjoy live performance by a traditional dance troupe in different forms like BihuKuori, BihuHusori in languages such as Bodo, Missing, Rabha, Hajong etc. on the first day of the event along with live musical instruments playing with the troupe. On the second day, people witnessed more dance performances such as SatriyaDasabotarNritya, BihuKuori, BihuHusori and GoalpariaNritya. Bihugeet was also sung by the troupe that enthralled the public. Audience present at the venue also witnessed an interactive question answer round followed by an interesting discussion on the varied cultures and dance forms of Northeast India.
Speaking of BhogaliBihu, which is mainly a festival of foods, fun and laughter, local sweets from the region such as pitha and ladoo were distributed at the venue for the general public. Meji, particularly made by menfolk with bamboo sticks and hay was also put together to give the true essence of the festival.
Besides the Managing Director of NERAMAC, other guests including Shri Ashok Saran Film Producer and Member of Film Censor Board, Mumbai, Shri Manish Sisodiya Dy. CM, New Delhi, Smt Jaya Jetly, Organiser DastkariMela& former leader NDA, Ms ReenaShrivastava Additional General Manager, NERAMAC, Shri Satish Sharma Assistant Manager Marketing and Coordination and Ms Parul Mehta, INM Division attended the two day event. The event attracted huge number of citizen from different walks of life residing in Delhi.
