The Opposition People’s Representation for Identity and Status of Mizoram (PRISM) on Monday demanded the resignation of chief minister Lal Thanhawla for failing to take action over the alleged assault on a civilian by his security guards on the night of January 22.
Addressing a party meeting here, (PRISM), the anti-corruption watchdog-turned-political party, general secretary Lalrinzaula slammed Lal Thanhawla for failing to execute his duty as chief minister.
‘We are strongly irritated by the chief minister’s silence till today. He must resign for failing to take action against his security guards for assaulting an innocent truck driver, who was travelling uphill along the Kolasib-Aizawl road last Monday night,’ he said.
Lalrinzaula alleged that Lalbiakzuala, a truck driver from Sihphir village near Aizawl, was beaten up by Lal Thanhawla’s security guards for allegedly refusing to let the chief minister’s convoy pass.
The victim is receiving medical treatment at Synod Hospital in Durtlang.
