On the occasion of Navaratri, Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati has been fully decorated with flowers. The temple is adorned and completely covered with flower garlands of marigold, lily, banana leaves and other varieties. The new avatar for these nine days gives a refreshing look to this place of worship.
The decoration of the temple is done by a florist from Kolkata. A team of 40 people is working tirelessly to decorate the temple. Dilip Patra, the team leader, informed that the flowers are brought from Bangalore. Species of lily and jarbora flowers are brought from Bangalore as the local varieties do not completely serve the purpose according to them.
Devotees from across the country come to visit the temple on the occasion of Navaratri. The rituals and celebration goes on for nine days. However, the footfall is less compared to Ambubachi Mela according to the priests in the temple.
