From Tingkhong to Gujarat what made it possible?
It was very interesting how the journey from Tingkhong to Gujarat was possible. I was midway through my graduation when I went to Gujarat to enjoy some family time. That was when I came to know that the entrance of Fine Arts in Maharaja Sayajirao University will be held soon. I appeared in the interview and that is how I became student of the Fine Arts Faculty.
How would you define sculpting?
Sculpture is the art of carving, modelling, welding, or otherwise producing figurative or abstract works of art in three dimensions, as in relief, intaglio, or in the round. Sculpture is a language for me. Through sculpture, I can express my thoughts and feelings.
Tell us about your style of sculpting
Basically my work is based on human behaviour and nature. The thoughts and feelings come to my mind from day to day life and they become the subjects of my art.
What is your latest creation?
My latest work is on the transformation of things from one state to a different one. I think the period of transformation is very important; transformation is a part of life.
One of my work is on Parijat flower (sewali phul). The flower on the branch of the bush and the fallen flower on the ground are quite different. The period of transformation is short, but the look is still quite different. Everybody will see there is a change which is present due to transformation. In this particular work, I wanted to capture the short mid void of the flower on the branch and the flower on the ground.
Now, people are also going through transformation. Man has changed from living in harmony with nature to living in concrete jungles. Through my work of ‘Honey Bee’, I have tried to symbolize the transformation from close to nature to an urbanized life.
Tell us about your future ventures
The field of art itself is in a period of transition. New Media is working in the field of art. I like to experiments in my work. I am making plan to experiment in this New Media.
