The two-day long 3rd edition of Northeast Fiesta was aimed at celebrating culture, connecting people and transforming life. The Fiesta was organized to showcase the cultural diversity of all the Northeastern states to the people of Punjab with a cultural exchange program to foster integrity, prosperity and excellence.
It was organized by Northeast Students’ Organization, Jalandhar in association with Viva Collage Jalandhar, powered by VH1 and MTV Beats and co-powered by Sai Kripa Arts.
During the day time, carnival, handicraft and handloom display, art, traditional sport, photography and tourism exhibition were organized. Guests were particularly fascinated to watch the traditional folk music and dances of all the 8 states. Northeast bands as well as artistes from Jalandhar participated in both the days. Local visitors also enjoyed the ethnic delicacies prepared by the students from the region.
The event also witnesses session on relevant topics of the Northeast and the eminent speaker was Arvind Mishra, a Guinness world record holder and Tedx speaker. Start-up entrepreneurs from the Northeast participated in the discussion to speak about boosting business opportunities and promotion of tourism and industrial sector.
DJ Prinal an eminent EDM artist of Vh1 enthralled the audience during the last day of the event.
People of Punjab enjoyed designs by upcoming designers from the Northeast namely Rikyir Romin from Arunachal Pradesh showcasing her brand ABO Tani, KIRAN from Manipur, and LINAN by Linthoi and Nandini from Manipur and Assam respectively. Kritika Sharma from Sikkim, FBB Campus Princess Winner 2018 of Miss India organization was the showstopper for designers Linthoi and Nandini. She mesmerized everyone with her Bollywood songs and also presented a Sikkimese folk dance. A young fashion aspirant from Nagaland, Ben Jamir, assisted the styling of the models.
This year, Northeast Fiesta saw an international twist as Niharika Gyawali from Nepal preformed live, and in addition to that, professional models from Afghanistan, Bhutan, and few from African countries participated in the designer showcase.
Renowned footballers from Manipur, Jeakson Singh Thounaojam, and Nongdamba Naorem, both from India’s Under-17 Football World Cup 2017 squad, graced the event as guests of honour.
The entire event was captured and covered by young entrepreneur, Hemanga Deka, and his Zero Cube Studios team from Assam.
