Chief Minister Pema Khandu recently launched the opening of Arunachal Cable Communication that will provide HD digital cable TV connection. He also launched a new English daily ‘The Arunachal Herald’. Speaking at the function, the Chief Minister stated that the launch of digital cable services will boost media entrepreneurs to opt for local news and entertainment channels in a State where such media has less presence.
He also lauded the opening of a new English daily, and urged on the need to promote and support media industry in the State as they act as the eyes and ears of the government. He also welcomed constructive criticism from the media that would help the government to govern better.
For the welfare of media fraternity, the CM informed that Rs 3.5 crore has been announced in the budget for creating infrastructure facilities of Arunachal Press Club in Itanagar. For the welfare of working journalists, he informed that enhancement in corpus fund has been made from Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore. For completion of Soochna Bhawan, Rs 4 crore has been earmarked.
