The 6th semester students of the Department of Mass Media, St Anthony’s College organized a three-day photo event ‘Expressions of Life’ at the college premises last week. The event was graced by Ampareen Lyngdoh, MLA, who attended as the chief guest. Guests of Honour were Fr John D Jayakumar, one of the founding fathers of the department, and D Loyi, managing director of Kong Kong Lige Loyi Foundation and also the title sponsor of the event.
The first day witnessed a large number visitors who came to be a part of the inauguration ceremony. Parents and other guests appreciated the inauguration program and effort made by the students to put together the event. The beautiful images displaying the vivid expressions of life were exhibited by young and budding photographers. Some photographs taken by prominent photographers were also put on display from the department archive.
On the second day, a workshop on Basic Photography and Basic Editing was organized followed by a photo-walk for the students of different schools and other participants. Resource people for the event were Elyon Blah, Eddie Kharsyntiew and Aewonmi Kharsyntiew.
The closing ceremony was on 7th April. The results for the online photography competition were also announced on the final day of the event. The prize money was a sum of Rs 3000. The director of the department, Fr Joby Joseph, announced the winner as well as declared the event closed.
