Guwahati witnessed the first of its kind Indigenous Games Festival inaugurated by CM Sarbananda Sonowal at Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Stadium in RG. Baruah Sports Complex yesterday. The three day festival has all the indigenous games of the state lined up.
Speaking at the inaugural session, CM Sonowal said that the festival will help in bringing out all the indigenous sporting talents together and will help in promotion of friendship bonds amongst the people of the state. He also urged upon more than 900 participating players from 33 districts to play Indigenous Games Festival 2018 highlighting the sportsman spirit and Assam’s richness in indigenous sports.
CM Sonowal mentioned that the government was fortunate to promote such games and sports which are an integral part of our socio-cultural life and that it is one of the guiding forces for the government to have organized the Assam Indigenous Games Festival 2018. He also said that Assam Indigenous Games Festival 2018 would provide a fillip to strengthen social and cultural values of the state.
